New Project

Come check out my latest project: Dirt Stains and Paint.

I figured this would be a great way for my readers to choose between boring family updates and fun home decor stuff.

Both blogs will continue to be updated, but Dirt Stains and Paint will just be home-focused!

See you there!

Brenner Joseph

Meet the newest addition to our family:
Brenner Joseph Carbonatto
Born March 11, 2012
7lbs. 2 oz. at 2:14pm

He has a proud big brother who (now) loves him...

And even though he was born at 36 weeks...he was healthy as can be.  What a blessing!

Where is Brenner's name from?
-I just liked it.  Truth be told, I saw it on someone's blog about a year ago, and kept it in my back pocket.  And apparently, it's a mountain range in the Swiss Alps, on the border of Italy.  Blake's Italian, and Brecken is spelled like Breckenridge so it fit!
Does 'Joseph' have any significance?
-Yes, after my Grandpa Tex (Adrian Joseph was his real name) who passed away this Fall.  He would've loved to have met Brenner.

And in case anyone was wondering who he looks like...
This is Brecken at (roughly) 3.5 weeks old
Brenner at (roughly) 3.5 weeks...
Brenner meeting his new BFF, Maddex.
Yep, my boys look like twins.  And I love it.  Because, this one's pretty cute...

Happy Easter

We participated in the local community-wide Easter Egg Hunt.

{It's basically boot camp for Black Friday}
Show up REAL early to get a good spot at the field.
Then, RUN to grab all the eggs you can.
Otherwise, you'll end up like us, with just one. :)

Brecken sizing up his competition

His friends: Saxyn and Ireland.

Like I said...ONE egg.

With ONE piece of chocolate...

Oh look, their mom's shop at Target too...
No, we did not know them. :)
No eggs were found even with this sprint.

Phone Dump

A real blog post is much overdue, but a phone dump is all I can swing for now.  I have had a draft of our kitchen post going for about a week now...I will finish uploading pictures I swear.  In the meantime, my phone shows a little bit of our life lately:

A Saturday morning treat with our family of 4 to celebrate a good friend's birthday.

Decided it would be fun to SIT in a mud puddle.  I couldn't help but laugh.  I asked for boys. :)

Here's Mr. Brenner Joseph.  I'm slightly obsessed with cuddling with him.  I love  this sleeping baby!

So many things to love about this picture:
1.  We have a backyard!
2.  It's sunny outside!
3.  He's filthy...yet again.  :)  Rolling down the bark hill sounded like a good idea.
Dressing these boys every day is one of my regular highlights.  I love all things boy.
Spring = fresh flowers.  LOVE.
That's life lately.

Stay tuned for the Kitchen Post, Craigslist Finds, and some initial before and afters of what we've already started to do to personalize our new home.

Friday Fun

Here we are, a bajillion doctor's appointments completed and now just 2 days away from meeting our next little guy!

To catch you up real quick, on top of moving into our GORG new house, I was diagnosed with this weird disorder called cholestasis (quick read on it here).  Because of the stress that it puts on my body, and thus Brenner's little body, I'm being induced on Monday morning!

Blake has been working serious overtime around the house to help get everything ready - I really am so lucky to have him.  The swing has taken up home in our family room again, the second crib has been put together, and my adorable new diaper bag is all packed and ready to welcome the little guy!
Timi & Leslie - the Dawn.  Bought it from Zappos.
I still can't believe that Brecken isn't going to be our little baby anymore.  I've been plagued with tons of nostalgia lately.  Unpacking and washing all Brecken's old clothes, hanging them in some new baby's closet.  Wondering who he is.  What does he look like?  I'm nervous and excited all at once.  Plus, even though the induction is scheduled for Monday, I had a procedure done today called an amniotesis where they check Brenner's lung maturity and we were told that there is a chance that my water will now break on it's own sometime between now and Monday sending me into labor.  So there's a slight element of surprise and anticipation looming over the weekend too.

Our house isn't anywhere near where I would've wanted it decor-wise before his arrival, but that's okay. I've learned to become patient.  I want to do this one right.  And that's going to take time with normal circumstances - let alone crazy 9 month pregnant-I-itch-til-I-bleed circumstances.

Here are some quick pics via Le iPhone from this week:

Some girlfriends and I escaped to the casino for a Bingo night.  Yes, two of us are 8/9 months pregnant.  And no, we're not 80 years old.  Don't judge. :)
Look Mom: this means trouble.
Got these from Pick Your Plum a few weeks ago.  Haven't decided what their purpose will be yet.  Maybe photo props.  Maybe bathroom towel hangers.  Options are endless.

Picture we had to send to dentist.  We have blood at least twice a week with this kid.
Snow in March.  Why not?

And total side note: did you see Whippy Cake launched her new Cookie Crumb collection for little baby girls!  SUCH dainty cute little headbands - great gifts.

Ready or Not

We are finally settling in to the new house, and I apologize for the lack of pictures.  It's all I can do to stay afloat right now with everything else on our plate (in a good way).

It's crunch time for the Carbonatto's though, as baby Brenner is gearing up to make his entrance - whether we're ready or not!

With Brecken, I was diagnosed fairly late in the pregnancy with this weird disorder called cholestasis.  This time, we were looking for it, so were able to diagnose a lot earlier which is super good.  Most people haven't heard of it, and frankly, even the people that have, don't know too much about it.  For the quick run-down, read more here.  It's really of no risk to me, but is to the little guy inside me.  So I have been officially switched over to high risk and am under close watch.  Don't worry, everything's fine so far.

I was induced with Brecken, and I will be again for Brenner - the question is when.  It will be no more than a week and a half from now though!  Holy crap!  That will make him about 3-4 weeks early, but we (and the doctors) expect him to be just fine.

So yeah, don't be mad at the lack of house updates - we've been scrambling to get everything ready for this little guy's arrival.  House will have to wait.

ALTHOUGH: the interior downstairs is being painted as we speak, and I've been able to score some REALLY fun pieces of antique furniture to fill the space.  I'm SO excited to see things coming together, be it ever so slowly, and will definitely be sharing ASAP!

Temporary Chaos

I know that you are all on pins and needles wanting to hear from me, and know what's going on.  The jist of it is:
  • We moved and are officially in the new house!
  • We haven't had internet all week which makes for tough social media communication.  Alas, those beloved Comcast people come tomorrow!
  • Brenner will be here shortly (like T-minus 2 weeks or less - more on that later too)
  • Jenn from MunchkinLand Designs is working on a new layout/design for this little space here.  New house, means serious mommy-blogger makeover!

Don't worry, once we get settled (ha!), I will do my best to slap some pictures together of the new house.  I'm seriously in love.  Like obsessed.  Can't believe it's ours.

Hold tight!

Our Love Story

I know I've been MIA lately, but I promise really fun posts and things are happening in this household, starting with us getting the keys to our new house (DECORATING POSTS!!) this coming Friday!  Yay!

Anyway, before that happens, a little special (Hallmark) holiday is Tuesday and I wanted to opt in on the fun everyone's having over at FromMrstoMama.

So here goes the Love Story of Blake & Ashley. :)

Taken Ladies

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
Together 8 years, almost 9 (I think).
We look like scrubs babies.

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
The first time we ever were introduced to each other was in the foyer (fancy) of the house he lived in in college.  As he tells it, he saw a "hot" girl and needed to meet her.  Nothing came of that first encounter until many months after, when we first (re)connected at a retreat through our college ministry group.  He made sure to join the card game that I was playing with some other people in hopes that we could chat, and sure enough, we clicked right away.
Our very picture ever taken together

3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}
We have been married 5 years - it will be 6 this coming May.  Anniversary is Cinco de Mayo.  Ay yay yay.  :)

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?  If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
We tested the Washington weather and got married OUTSIDE on May 5th on the most beautiful 75 degree day up at Snoqualmie Ridge Golf & Country Club.  It was so picture-esque, and so fun to be surrounded by 300 of our closest friends and friend.  There were a few more than just the invited 300 too - we noticed a few wedding crashers!

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
We're not huge nick-namers.  Mostly babe for both of us.  Sometimes I throw in dude.  And when we really get crazy, I call him Blake Jordan - I'm a big proponent of middle names being included. :)

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
Narrowing it down to the 3 MOST seems silly, because I usually have a laundry list, BUT I do love:
How he makes up strength, personality, and character-wise what I lack.  We really are compliments to one another.  He's strategic.  Loyal (had some of the same best friends since 6th grade).  An expert at what he does.  Well-respected - not just by me, by those around him.  Smart.  I love being able to have intelligent conversations with me because he always teaches and makes me think.  Helpful.  Blake is not content sitting around and thus is always willing to help around the house - cooking, cleaning, with Brecken - you name it, he can play Mr. Mom with the best of 'em!
Is that 3?  :)

7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
He had me totally fooled, and through some sweet connections, managed to set up this whole spread on the 50 yard line of Husky Stadium (go dawgs).  A tent, rose petals everywhere, a personalized poem, and a blingin' ring! I was shocked to say the least!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberrieschampagne, and rose petals?
I think if he ever bought me a teddy bear, I'd probably laugh.  :)  He's more of a get-me-something-I-really-want kind of guy.  So depending on the season, maybe flowers, maybe a cute card, maybe a Lululemon jacket.  :)  Either way - he scores high in this department always.

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Can I say both?  Movie in our sweats on the couch is the norm for this household (which I love!), but dinner on the beach sounds AMAZE-BALLS, and the Carbonatto's definitely love to escape to the sun.
That one time when we used to live 3 minutes from the beach.  :)
10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
I really want to go on a Mediterranean Cruise.  I really just want to go to the Mediterranean, but a cruise is probably the only way that I'd be able to convince him to cross the pond.  It's on our list.  It will happen someday.  Sans kids.

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
We have our new house orientation for 3 hours in the morning!!  Nighttime might consist of some takeout (a treat for me to not have to cook!), maybe bath-time for Brecken, and then cuddle.  The life of an 8 month preggo girl. :)

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
Nah - we've got a new house to furnish!

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Grace. The more grace that we offer to one another, the deeper our love can grow.  We've learned so often that love is a choice in a marriage that hopes to endure all the peaks and valleys of life.  It isn't going to be a mountain-top feeling all of the time.  Live that.  Remember that.  And offer grace to each other.  Oh, and never stop dating each other!  Don't let it get stale.  Happens way too often, and way too fast - especially when kids get thrown into the mix.  Carbonatto's are HUGE proponents of regular and frequent date nights.

14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.
Side by side.  Letting the waves of life crash on us.  We'll do it together.
