I love Date Nights. It has taken Blake and I quite awhile to learn and understand the importance of a regular and consistent date night. In fact, at a wedding Blake was in a couple weeks ago, the pastor doing the wedding said to the couple that your marriage will be the single most important ministry that you have for the rest of your life - treat it like that. Invest in it, spend time working on it, and have fun with it!
Every Thursday, our social calendar is blocked off for one another. We found that in order to make this a priority in our marriage, that we HAD to schedule it for the same day every week no matter what. If we had it be a "sliding" day, then it was amazing how quickly we'd say yes to other outside things and out of nowhere, our schedule would be full with no date night anywhere in sight. Although this has required a lot more intentional effort to make sure we actually follow through with it EVERY SINGLE WEEK (esp. since Brecken has been born) we continue to prioritize our marriage.
Let me just take a minute to brag about my husband because he is the KING of fun planned date nights. Here are a few recent examples:
Now every week does not end in a showering of new material goods. Some are experiences as well like last night:
This last picture is of me crying (happy tears) because I'm just so lucky to have a husband willing to put in the work to ensure that we have a thriving marriage in 25 years (and beyond). I love you Blake Jordan.
