"I looked, and there before me was a white horse! It's rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rose out as a conqueror bent on conquest." (Rev. 6: 2)
This struck me because it showed how precise, calculated, and individual God comes after us. On a conquest.
It's in pure contrast to Satan who comes at the world with a sword (Rev. 6:4).
When I envision someone with a sword, I envision widespread slaughter. Aimlessly swinging.
With a sword, you can slaughter many and much, all at the same time. There's no thought or calculated attack required. How fitting. Satan doesn't care WHO he slaughters, nor care about YOU, the individual. He's just on a slaughter conquest. For the masses. Disregards the individual.
A bow (and arrow) shoots at a specific target.
This may sound silly, but it'd be like if Cupid had a sword.
Well, that wouldn't work because he needs to just shoot one specific person - he can't just go "slaughter" many thoughtlessly. It has to be a specific and individual match.
This revelation was just the reminder that I needed to hear today. God loves ME. He's on a conquest after ME. He so desperately seeks the uniqueness about you that He created you in. He cares about YOU. He doesn't use a sword to go carelessly swinging.
He takes his time. Aims. Shoots.
He has a target. And that's me...and you.
