Scratch That

I feel like a chicken with my head cut off lately.

Between trying to finish my 3 rooms "under construction", covering for a friend's maternity leave, planning Brecken's 1st Birthday party, and oh yeah...actually taking care of this little guy - I AM BUSY{I know, I know - WHO ISN'T RIGHT?}

Unfortunately blogging has been the thing that had to give.  Don't worry though - it's just a temporary sabatacle.

For the party planning, I had this big great vision of a really cute Hole In One type theme - some argyle, some golf balls, some Ice-Tee...it was going to be great.

I had even hired a professional designer to really set the tone for the party with custom invites, thank you cards, party toppers, food cards, etc.  Well that got (price-wise) a little more out-of-hand than I wanted.  I even did a little photoshoot to get things started.
NOTE: A photoshoot with a 10 month old, by yourself, is a pretty stupid idea.

I was able to get the munchkin to crack one smile.
Kills me.
{Anyway, I basically realized that I just can't do it all}.
Brecken will be celebrated.  But I don't have to have the big production when it just doesn't fit in with our priorities right now.  And I'm okay with that.

I'll still update you though with fun party details.  Non big production doesn't mean it's not going to be cute

And if you know my little boy, you know that if anything else, he's got style.

Craft Room Progress

For current Playroom Progress, click here and here so you can catch up!

This is the {atrocious} before of my soon-to-be craft room.
Whoh whoh.

First thing was first.  Get some color on those walls!
Behr Rhino (710E-3)
I was told {and it looks like it online} that it was a good grey.  Shocker I know.  Well, much to my surprise, it is NOT a grey in real life at all.  It's this beautiful greenish-blue-grey and I LOVE it.
Can you see the pretty color from this picture?
The other day I spoke of my love of all things free.  Well, let me introduce you to the cutest little card stand in all of America that was F.R.E.E.

Yep, while at our friends destination wedding in Leavenworth, my sister and I spotted this guy in an alleyway in the GARBAGE pileA perfectly good and working card stand!

I drove my car around as fast as I could, and threw that bad boy in the trunk.  I felt a slight adrenaline rush taking something from the "trash"...yes, I know that I'm a rebel.

I knew that with a quick coat of silver spray paint, it'd be the perfect home to the card business.

Seriously, go to my Etsy store and BUY A CARD.  It's FREE shipping right now.  I promise, you will be the talk of the town at the next shower or party you go to and give the hostess one of these cards.  Ah-mazing {not bias}.

Now that the bare bones to the room are complete, I'm ready to tackle my first furniture re-do to add some organization to this room, and am SO excited.

This cupboard and hutch will be transformed.
Picked it up at the thrift store for only $60!

I'll need a place to craft and sit of course.
This desk and chair will be getting a complete makeover.  Picked them up for $32 for both!

Anxious to keep going and get the room fully organized and beautified.

Lesson Learned

An impromptu cleaning session which led to a ruined {new} green shirt:

That's it!  No more cleaning.

Okay, how about no more impromptu cleaning?

That's what I get for wearing a cute new shirt, AND trying to be a supermom.

Argh.

Room Progress & a Tutorial

Whew, I have been a project maniac lately and am so excited to start sharing some of the progress on these big projects.

As you may remember, we decided to take on an office-playroom-craftroom re-do all at once.  Re-do 3 rooms at once?  Right before we go on vacation for 2 weeks?  Sure, why not!

Have I ever mentioned how difficult this is when you have a maniac crawling baby??  I digress...

I don't of course want to do a full reveal until we're completely done, but I am quite pleased with how things are coming together (in all 3 rooms)!

One of my fav decorative elements for the playroom was going to be the ever-popular pennant flag buntings per my computer rendering.

During Monday's not-so-surprising Bachelor Finale on Monday (even though I'm a Seattle girl, I was definitely Team Emily for the record), I decided to get my craft on and whip up that little pennant flag loveliness.
A quick trip to Joanns {40% off coupon in hand of course} and I was ready to go.

Step 1: Measure length of flags & ribbon you are going to need.
Notice the freshly painted {grey} walls.

Step 2: Create a flag template.  Measure so that your triangle is exact.

Step 3: Begin tracing template onto fabric and cut away.

I advise having a good show like The Bachelor on to entertain you, along with some cookie dough, because this process may take a long {tedious} time.

Step 4: Glue each flag onto the ribbon.  I chose not to do each flag double-sided (since it would be against the wall), but it would be simple to make it so that the pennants can hang on display in any direction.

Step 5: Hang it up for all to see!

We've also picked up a little table & {soon to be} chairs for the munchkin to eventually do his own art projects at.
And added the ever-so-clutch storage to hide all of those toys.
I'll give you some more updates on the craft room tomorrow which I am SUPER excited about.  This is going to a room that screams ME.  Contemplating a "No Boys Allowed" sign on the front door.  :)

Sign Me Up

I love free.  Maybe it's the fact that I married {an amazing} finance guy.  Maybe it's the fact that I no longer bring in a formal income to this family.  Or maybe it's the fact that I just simply love that four letter word.

My friend Carly just was announced as a winner at Thrifty Decor Chick.  Cha-ching!  It probably took her all of 4.2 seconds to submit a comment, and now she's the proud owner of a FREE $50 giftcard.

That's my style.

I enter a lot of things.

It's one of those quirks of mine that most people think is weird.

Until I get picked.

Many will remember my stint with Wheel of Fortune.  Afterward, I was asked: HOW did you get on??  And I said, gosh you know, I just APPLIED.  Yep, online.  For free.  Took me 10.4 seconds.  And then Vanna and Pat called.  A few days later, my pockets were bulging with an extra $7,200.  Apply for yourself here.

Duh, I'll do that again.

*For the record, I don't buy lotto tickets.  But I sort of think I should. :)

My latest application: tickets to the Ellen Show.  She NEVER has tickets available.  And I almost peed my pants when I saw the other day she did.  It's definitely a bucket list.  Took me 2 seconds to apply.  Tickets are free.  Dear Ellen Show People, please accept my application.

Speaking of free.  We are currently offering Free Shipping on purchases at Cards by Paper Therapy.
Use coupon code FREESHIP.

If you, like me, enjoy free, here are some other fun giveaways going on right now in blogland.

Oh La La. Want it?  Click here.

Want one?  Click here

All this stuff.  Free.

And all this.  F.R.E.E.

PS Should I do a giveaway?  Do you want something free too?  What would you want to win?

Making Memories

I know I've been seriously MIA lately, but it is all for good things.

We've basically been out of town, on vacation(s) for the last month and a half.  And I'll be honest, blogging when there is sun shining outside just doesn't seem too appealing.  No lack of love though, I promise.

We're in SUCH a fun season of life, that I can't help but be grateful for the memories that we are making, the time we're getting to spend together as a family...well, and the tan that I am getting.

This week, we're down in Arizona and LOVING it.

We've been able to catch a Spring Training game.
Go Brent!
Hang out with several friends...
Brecken's BFF, Saxyn.

Pool time, perfecting our tan, and spending great time with our extended family.

All of which equals a great vacation, limited time for pictures (because we forgot our camera), but still making lasting memories nonetheless.
I climb things now.
I'll be back in the groove soon enough.  But first...that sun is calling.

Splurged

Today, I just HAPPENED to be at the right place at the right time.  The beautiful Miss Becki of Whippycake opened up her home for a special in-store viewing of all her products.

Short confession: I have browsed on her website probably 40 bagillion times, every time filling my "cart" with all the products that I want, but never actually pulling the trigger on making the purchase.  Gun shy.

Well today, all that changed.

This trip actually made my obsession worse.  Instead of just viewing online, I could actually feel them.  Try them on.  And oh my word, they are EVEN BETTER in real life.

Thankfully it's the beginning of the month, so my allowance was restocked (cha-ching!) and I may or may not have splurged on these beautes.
On sale thank you very much.

And this one

Oh, and picked this one up as a gift

I unfortunately (says my husband pocketbook) had to draw the line there.  I REALLY wanted these too.
I'm in love with all of them.

And not only does she make great girly accessories, but she's SUPER nice (in real life) and has an adorably cute home.

If you have the same, or similar, headband obsession as I do, seriously, one day when you're feeling down, or like you need a girly pick-me-up, visit Becki's website/blog and splurge.  It'll solve your worries...for that day. :)

BUYER BEWARE:  you just might fall in love with them all.
