Need a Good Read

Vacation is on the horizon (SUNSHINE FINALLY) and I'm super excited.

5 days in Boca Raton...just my husband and I...no baby toddlers in sight.

I need a good read though.

I've read The Help.
LOVED.  Excited for the movie.

And within the last week, I just finished Something Borrowed...
Loved.
...Oh, and saw the movie.
Great girlfriend movie.  LOVED.

And Heaven's For Real.
Run and buy this book RIGHT NOW!  Life-changing!

Thank you Husband's new iPad for making read so easy and accessible these days. :)

Anyway, I need your recommendations.

{What are some poolside/plane reads I need to bring along?}

Leave a comment with a recommendation - I would be ever-so-grateful!

White Jeans: Part 2

I was feeling brave last week, wanting to expand my horizons from the normal jeans and flip flops scrubby-mom-look, to incorporate the (supposed) spring/summer must have: white jeans.

Where do you find said 'trendiness'?

I tried Gap, Forever 21, The Loft, Old Navy. But nothing seemed to suit my fancy.  Or my budget.

Just when I was feeling discouraged, my try-to-avoid-but-just-can't-resist store, Nordstrom, came to my rescue.

Next problemo: what do you wear with such a frock?

Here's my attempt at figuring out style:

Eh, a little too Americana for me.

White Jeans....I'm Scared

A good friend of mine told me the other day that my BFF Nate Berk, made the statement that {WHITE JEANS are the staple to transition your wardrobe into spring/summer this year}.

AHHHHHHH  (enter Kevin McCallister scream)

There's nothing that screams INSECURE more to me than white jeans!

Really Nate?  I have to rock them?  (well have to is relative)

Then, I took a breath and decided with a post-baby body, I need to be as daring as I can be because Lord knows that (hopefully) another munchkin will take over my body soon enough and mu-mu's will be the only thing transitioning in my wardrobe yet again.
Not sure about ALL white, but I've always like LC's style.

Princess Cathryn rocks em.

I'll keep you posted on my white jean adventure (I know you're on the edge of your seat).
I'm scared.  But feeling brave.

First step: actually purchase them.

{Are there any other current trends that you are feeling daring to try?}

Playroom Progress (2)

The projects continue around our house, and I'm finally starting to feel like our house is a home.

Full and functional.

We've been focusing on continuing to convert our former unused big kid office

To a much more functional, and cute, playroom.

As promised, we combined my initial inspiration:

With my really bad amateur PowerPoint skills for a rough rendering

We Husband flexed his muscles, pulled out those power tools, and implemented the vision.

I bring you cute, functional, and cheap yet again.

I liked the view while "we" were constructing these.
Excuse you.  Stop staring please.
Hottie #10.
We weren't able to do the mirror because we figured that with a maniac on the loose (i.e. this munchkin)...

...that it wasn't the safest idea to have a large mirror at hands grasp, ready for him to rip it off the wall.  {Uhh, 7 years of bad luck - no thank you}.

So we opted for a large galvanized sheet of metal, perfect for magnets, instead (way cheaper too I might add).

We started with three 24x36 pieces of MDF from the local hardware store.  I painted one with chalkboard paint, we attached cork board roll to the other, and used spray adhesive to place the galvanized metal for the 3rd.

Then using some molding from the hardware store that the hubs cut, nailed, and caulked (that's a funny word), we had custom framed, uniform playroom boards.

We aren't done by any means, but we are making GREAT progress.
